Christian Ruggiero is Associate Professor in Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes at the Department of Communication and Social Research of La Sapienza University of Rome, where he earned his Ph.D. in Communication Sciences in 2010 and became Research Fellow in 2012. His main research topics are in the sociology of journalism and political communication, with a focus on the relationships between formal and informal actors in the hybrid communication ecosystem. He participated in the 2021 edition of the Media for Democracy Monitor project and was principal investigator for the Italian research team of the pilot project co-funded by the European Commission Euromedia Ownership Monitor (EurOMo).
