There is no permanent independent monitoring institution, but content analyses are conducted on an irregular basis by research institutes, universities, and private companies. Specific events, such as election campaigns or crises, are more often analysed than ordinary news situations. Media coverage during election campaigns has been systematically checked since 1979, with a particular focus on the political neutrality of news media (Asp & Bjerling, 2014). Besides these, there is no effective and publicly available monitoring instrument.
