I am an Associate Professor in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Padova (Italy). My main areas of interest concern the transformation of political processes in the global context and their connection to the evolution of communication processes and technologies, with a special focus on gender equality issues and communication rights. On these issues I have published extensively, including articles and chapters aimed at engendering media and ICT policy (Padovani 2014, 2018, 2020; Padovani and Pavan 2016, 2017; Padovani and Shade 2016); and co-editing a recent UNESCO syllabus on ‘Gender, Media and ICTs. New approaches for research, education and training’ (2019). I am a founding member of the Mapping Media Policy platform; co-chair of the Global Media Policy at IAMCR; member of the Eurmedia Research group. I also also co-chair the UNESCO Unitwin University Network on Gender Media and ICTs and I am active member of the IAMCR Task Force for the Global Alliance for Media and Gender.
