There is a tradition of training in the newsrooms, however with the media crisis this practice was terminated in almost all news media organizations. The Lithuanian Journalists Union regularly organizes training courses on the basis of the needs expressed by the profession. over recent years, the greatest attention has been paid to the media in the outlying regions, and training courses were offered in online reporting and editing, newsroom management, journalism ethics, elections reporting, European news reporting and so forth. However, in the media industry, professional training courses are carried out on a less regular basis. Regular training courses were organized at the public service broadcaster, but many of these were terminated for financial reasons.
